How Can tingling And Numbness In The Tongue Be Treated?

I am 53 years old and have had hemifacial spasms for about 9 years on the right side of my face. Lately the movement has been getting worse and it makes my face hurt especially my jaw. Today I noticed a new symptom and I wasn t sure if it was related to the spasms or if it was something totally unrelated. Movement today was unbearable and noticed that the right side of my upper lip and my tongue became numb and tingling. Is this a related symptom to the spasms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Yes.. it seems to be either the part of symptoms of spasms you have or nerve compression at cervical spinal level/ spasm stress at local level
You should consult your neurosurgeon for pin pointing the cause by physical examination/ MRI followed by specific treatment.)- medicines, physiotherapy, surgery.
thanks,
I find this answer helpful
